SIMPLE CHAINSAW SHARPENING HACK - December Firewood Scrounging
Couldn't I do this without taking things apart? I can just put some hot water under the coils. Drain hole should be in the middle.
John, that was a nice kit you received.
It did the job for sure!
I wonder if it’s a Knock off oregano chain, lots of counterfeit parts online nowadays. Or perhaps just cheaper metal , I’d be curious where those chain are made .
I got it from what I believe to be a legitimate oregano dealer. In my heart, I think it's the narrow gauge chain, but it's just weird to me.
I have a stihl HT133 pole saw and you are right, l don't use it frequently but it is beyond handy for making cuts you'd normally need to use a ladder for. For storing mine l have 2 old aircraft seatbelts running between 2 rafters in the shed. It sits up out of the way between the rafters with the motor on one belt and just behind the head on the other.
That's a great idea!
Very good tips that I will begin to apply. Is the file the only way to sharpen them, or is there a faster way to tune them up ?
You could use an angle grinder or die grinder. However, you may remove too much metal or overheat it making the edge more brittle. Once you have the edge a regular pas with a file is all that's required, power tools are helpful for the first sharpening.
Can you explain why we shouldn’t mulch above 3”?
1. Oxygen doesn't get to plant roots. 2. Soil becomes too organic. 3. Mulch rests against plants causing rot and easier for rodents to live in mulch and chew plant bard. 4. Waste of materials that causes more damage then good.
What fertizser shoud l use to my elephant ears plants, because some of its leaves are turning yellow
I use water soluble all purpose plant food, 24-8-16, which is sold everywhere as Miracle Grow.
What time do the year?
Okay but you don’t say what season you’re in.
I was told in in the early 50's when my grandfather came back to the dairy farm and build hi BIBill house these were the most affordable tree/shrub. Mine are in tree form but I Bonsai and propagate the millions of unkillable seedling. A spring after sprouting they are about 2 ft natural spear straight and great for bonsai or a hedgerow.
is the plastic sleeve supposed to pop out once you pop the cover on ? nobody shows anything past the install and this install is done a zillion ways
The sleeve SHOULD stay on when you put the cover on. It acts as a guide and a spacer around the crankshaft. If you click on the video below you can see me remove the sleeve after starting to tighten the bolts around the timing cover. In hindsight, I should have left the sleeve in place until I torqued all the bolts on the timing cover. It hasn't made a difference; there have been no leaks since doing this job. I removed the sleeve because I thought it might get stuck on the crankshaft. You can see how easily it came off so no concern there. Here is the video: ruclips.net/video/um4oHM_TQFY/видео.htmlsi=CCZ2FNPEq1wb2geZ&t=767
@@CTSCAPER called the owner of diesel power he told me hed be more concerned if it didnt come out im using hi end parts he said its a pilot bushing to keep the surface of the seal from being damaged and if its put in square ill get what i got which is a thin piece of plastic so well see i know its in the right way
@@CTSCAPER ill tell ya it is definitely tight
@@CTSCAPER im looking at the factory seal right now and it never dripped a drop of oil ever the plastic sleeve that came off is about 3-4 times longer than what came out so im thinking it never had one on it either cause it would have been on here if it did
I was rearranging my peg board and trying to find a good way to hang channel locks up but I'll have to keep looking or stick em back in a drawer 😄
If you find a solution, let me know. Mine are back in the drawer too!
This is half the job. The other half is to clean out the rubber boot down at pan in bottom of fridge. It gets clogged and backs all the way up to where you are at and then the tube freezes right there and overflows into back of fridge.
I gata old 044 that smokes 400 c all day and keep up with most any old stihls
Gauge, not pitch.
Absolutely!
I have had cutters break whenhitting nails or bullets in trees, not just because they were well worn or even worn to the service life marker. Well, "yet"....
For me, it seems to happen more often on the .043 gauge chain. I can't think of a time I hit something and broke a cutter, though it must have happened at least once.
Is the brass post coming off the faucet supposed to have an o-ring on it sir?
I don't see one on there. The sealing part may be on the hose, not on the faucet. However, I don't remember. The best way to find out is to put the new part on and see if it leaks. You'll know real quick whether it works or not.
John, my 36v Makita came with an Oregon chain that I did not like, I purchased 2 Sungator's chains and love them I just wished that would make chains for the bigger saws.
I never heard of that brand. A quick search on Amazon and wow people really like it.
@@CTSCAPER And there affordable.
TY!
is this a 5hp ?
I believe so.
That’s a cedar waxwings bird l know they come in flocks and clean my berries out.
That was the first time I saw those birds, and I haven't seen them since. Sometimes, the variety of birds we have amazes me.
Well done thank you.
I bought this one today ,so lucky.
You're going to love it! It self-seeds quite a bit. The seedlings are removed easily, but if you like it, you can let them grow.
@@CTSCAPER Thank you ,i need such kind plants for my roses garden. Wild and elegant artistic style
Thank you! When I’m going to put down mulch, do I first put down a mesh to keep the weeds out?
Please don't. Here is why you shouldn't ruclips.net/video/_CGbYSSjIPY/видео.htmlsi=IyX5GgpmWtNWtzZg .
Thank You! :)
It's that time of the year!
this is perfect, showing how that clip works is exactly what I needed to know, thanks!!
I have this problem but as soon as I clean it out, the mice make another nest. How do I keep them out?
This carb is $40 on Amazon. Don't rebuild it. Just replace it. But good info
For a bit of time you could go either way if the gas didn't clog any passages.
How many do you put in a pot?
One. If they are happy, you will soon find other plants growing in the pot as the rhizomes spread.
Thank you that was the best info on elephant ears Ive seen 🙏
Did you build a new bracket or biy one from somewhere?
That took me a few hours but was do-able once I looked at it for a while.
Thanks for sharing this video now we know what not to use .
My plant produced a new leaf, and now it is leaning. The leaves are not drooping. I think the plant is too heavy. Should i repot it deeper or stake it?
Hello, I have two Stewartia multi-stem trees in front of my house and they aren’t doing so well. The soil is clay, it is irrigated, and the trees have been in place 4 years. They just aren’t full. Perhaps I need to cut out some secondary leaders? Any suggestions?
heh bloke 10 yes later just assembled mine and lking to rip in great vid from oz
Hi there, nice tree. I usually would clean up the left over stubs to 1/4" above the buds for compartmentalization and to prevent the dieback spreading back down the tree.
Every couple years I come back to this same Video. RUclips can be a great resource!
Wow! Thanks for that. Glad the video is helping.
I only use firewood for recreational purposes, so I don't have a lot... would a 3 ft. diameter work? You said the smaller diameter, the harder it is, but does that mean harder for as much as you were wanting to stack? I imagine that the smaller the diameter, the shorter the height, but it's still doable. It's that right?
The wood can't make a gentle curve with a smaller diameter than a larger diameter. However, if you are only going 3-4 feet high and you split your pieces finer, you should be able to get away with it. There's only one way to find out!
Please, use some protection with your saw even the small one. One ER visit can spoil your day. JMNSHO
Point taken!
For whatever reason mine seemed to love a smaller then you'd think pot. Like a 13" diameter.
That's good to know. I'll have to try that with some offshoots of the main plant.
Super nice!!!
I just saw your video because I’m looking for a way to pick up sticks from my yard without me having to bend my 66 year old body over all the time. I just moved from Southern California to Northeast Ohio. And it made me laugh to hear you say Es-CON-dido It’s pronounced “ES- cundido”and it’s just 30 miles north of San Diego, California. Thank you so much for your helpful video! 😉
I chuckled thinking of how poorly I said that. That is the picker-upper thingy you want-the best one they make if you ask me.
Swoops look best and flow better out grow trees and not bare area of a garden.
When you're doing this "noodling" cutting, is that with a regular chain ?
Yes.
I generally use full chisel for taking down the big trees, then I grab my 362 with semi chisel for limbing and bucking 'em up because the chance of hitting the ground are greater. Good video, right to the point!
That makes a lot of sense! Thanks for sharing.
great reminder of the steps to follow!
Thanks!
Question- I have a 25 year old Hydrangea paniclula that I prune annually as explained in your video. The main trunks are large and unruly. Can I rejuvenate this old shrub by cutting it completely down to ground? The thought makes me nervous!
I've never tried that. However, a few years ago, I significantly cut one of my largest PeeGees back, and it's doing great! The video shows how I cut the main trunk back. ruclips.net/video/2t6p3Ql1uVQ/видео.htmlsi=3GEMHDXqAefIvZMb
I cut trees down with a 1971 version of this saw ….
It's a great saw! That one was purchased in 1992.
Thanks for your video, it's been the only one I have found with the same issue at rear connections brake lines.
I'm pretty sure it's a common failure point for many pickups. A lot of salt under there.
Update on the tree! 😀
I saw it a couple weeks ago and it looks great! I didn't have the camera though.
